Hopstem secures first Series C close for iPSC-derived neural cell therapy

Hopstem Biotechnology has announced the first close of a Series C financing round to advance its induced pluripotent stem cell-derived forebrain neural-cell programme. The company did not disclose the amount raised.
The round included Tasly Capital, Haibang Investment and Guangzhou Health Industry Investment, with existing investor Longmen Capital also participating. Hopstem says the proceeds will support clinical development and commercial-scale manufacturing.
The technological angle
Hopstem's lead product, hNPC01, is an injectable population of forebrain neural progenitor cells derived from iPSCs. The company is developing the candidate across neurological injuries, including chronic ischaemic stroke, haemorrhagic stroke and traumatic brain injury.
The platform challenge is not only producing the right neural lineage. A viable therapy requires a controlled, stable cell product that can be manufactured at scale, stored, delivered and compared consistently across clinical sites. Directing new capital toward manufacturing therefore matters alongside the clinical programme.
Hopstem reports that hNPC01 has received US regenerative medicine advanced therapy and Fast Track designations, and that additional investigational new drug applications have been cleared for haemorrhagic stroke and traumatic brain injury.

The financing reflects continued investor interest in iPSC technology beyond disease models and screening. A renewable pluripotent starting material could support standardized neural-cell production, but neurological cell replacement remains a demanding test of identity, integration, safety and durable function.
